Leopard plant (Farfugium japonicum)
A thick, crinkly leaf makes this a great addition to the shade garden, where interesting textures are a must. Yellow daisy-like flowers on tall stalks in late summer are just an extra bonus. Plant with ferns, aspidistra or aralia for contrast. 'Aureomaculata' has yellow spots, while 'Crispatum' is more grey-green and has a wonderful frilled lettuce-like edge. (Photo: NC State)
