Ajuga, bugleweed (Ajuga reptans)
A very low-growing groundcover with bronzy-green to purple foliage and tiny blue or rosy trumpet-shaped flowers in mid-spring. Forms a dense mat in damp areas under trees--a nice alternative to the ubiquitous Asian jasmine. Can take some drought once it's been established for a while. (Photo: Frank Vincentz)
